1994, Patrice Brisbois showed his two series: Sweet Astrid/The Seven
Deadly Sins to a friend. Then, his friend asked: why did you paint your dog Astrid as the main figure of the Seven deadly sins? Brisbois answered: you can trust animals. They do not lie. Have you ever seen a horse smoking or a dog lying? Brisbois then, referred to Mark Twain, The Diaries of Adam and Eve. Eves Diary: ..... Friday I had to have company - - so I made friends with the animals. They are just charming, and they have the kindest disposition and the politest ways; they never look sour, they never let you feel that you are intruding, they smile at you and swag their tail, if they've got one, and they are always ready for a romp or an excursion or anything you want to propose . . . |
