Artist Statement

This sculpture features a forest of tree trunks threatened in their growth by a number of obstacles. The slices of stone hurled through the trees hold the potential to deeply wound and scar or even kill the trees; instead, the stones become part of the growing process. The torn society uses history to rebuild itself – growing through, around, and in spite of adversity.
